Google has a free version for download and a whole whack of Youtube.com video tutorials that show how it can be used. I was able to create this model of Doug's name after watching only the first short tutorial video! They've made this tool exceptionally powerful while still keeping it easy and fun. If you've always wanted to explore 3D modeling / Computer Aided Design you may find this software an absolute riot!
There's a lot you can do with three crispy block letters. The temptation is great to mess about, attempting to create some clever arrangement. With these Web2.0 style logos I'm trying to keep it simple, clean and fast. None of these logos are terribly difficult to do and most people could very quickly learn how to create them in Photoshop, Illustrator, or any other kind of graphics tool. For some reason I really like the M, E and K letters together without any fussing about.
This is for Nelly, a colleague, friend and technology guru. The intarNell is named after the intarweb.
It's been some time since I recorded any music. This is because I have been extremely busy moving and getting used to a new career move. I went to a concert on Thursday night and was inspired to sit at my lonely piano and play out some new notes... sort of. This piece is short and it's entitled Variations, because it is in a key signature I love to use often. It was recorded using a digital dictation device so it's live. I do this when I'm just practicing a piece because it's easier than setting up for digital recording through mixers and studio software. So, you get to hear the recorder sliding around, my silly chair creaking, my nails tapping the keys and the noise the keys make when they are pressed down, including a few minor slips/errors... so don't listen *too* closely! phew!
I like the idea of where this piece is going and I can see myself developing it further. Here's to hoping for the time to do so! :-(
This tune is called Marble Hill. It is composed by Dougie MacDonald of Cape Breton and played by yours truly. I apologise for the rough recording. I'm in the process of studying for a certification exam and so I'm tired and as usual, unwilling to fix the errors. Perhaps I'll redo it at a later date- yeah.. right!
This is a strathspey I threw together this afternoon. It is composed by Jerry Holland of Cape Breton. I've played it a little more brisk than a traditional strathspey but I like it this way :-)
